I got a Buy Signal on OCCIDENTAL PET, symbol (OXY) at 67.8 on 1/31/2008
Price and moving averages:OCCIDENTAL PET, symbol (OXY), has closed above its Short time moving average.
Short time moving average is currently below mid-time, AND below long time moving averages.
The relationship between price and moving averages is: neutral in short-term, and bearish in mid-long term.
Bollinger Bands:OCCIDENTAL PET, symbol (OXY), has closed below the lower band by 33.2%%. This combined with the steep downtrend can suggest that the downward trend in prices has a good chance of continuing. However, a short-term pull-back inside the bands is likely.
Bollinger Bands are 21.4%% narrower than normal.
The current width of the bands (alone) does not suggest anything conclusive about the future volatility or movement of prices.
This commentary is not a recommendation to buy or sell. This is a commentary about a trade I made.
Fundamentals:I also like that OCCIDENTAL PET has an EPS of 5.77 which is and indication of profitability and not a very high dillution. The company is growing, as shown by a PEG (price/earnings growth) of 0.94. As a bonnus, it pays a dividend per share of 0.94
This one I will keep for the core portfolio.
